Welcome to the Health Economics Research Institute (HERI) website!

With healthcare reform a central feature of President Barack Obama's new Administration, and with expanded health insurance coverage for millions of Americans an expected top priority, HERI was created to identify and launch new initiatives and activities that can improve U.S. healthcare delivery systems.

We are currently looking for research proposals that advance market-based reforms to improve our healthcare delivery system. We are looking specifically at projects that explore the importance of innovation in improving the system, and increasing access to care. Projects we are looking to support could include, but are not limited to:

  • Finding better ways to organize/finance the healthcare delivery system to improve access
  • Examining needed policy changes
  • Developing/testing new models to improve access to care
  • Exploring innovative system changes needed to improve care
  • Building coalitions to support/advance improved healthcare access

HERI will then work to secure funding support for selected projects.
