Health Economics Research Institute Call for Proposals--Improving Healthcare Through Market Solutions

NORTHBROOK, Ill., April 27 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Health Economics Research Institute (HERI) is actively pursuing research proposals to support its mission of improving the U.S. health care delivery system through market-based solutions. Critical to its efforts: Exploring and testing better ways to organize and finance the system in order to improve patient care.

Lee Stillwell, HERI's chair, said, "We are interested in identifying projects that demonstrate market-based solutions to health care reform, such as developing/testing new models to improve access to care, exploring innovative system changes needed to improve care, and building coalitions to support/advance improved health care access."

In addition, with health information technology a top priority of President Obama's health care reform initiative, "we are particularly interested in projects that explore the numerous issues involved with successful implementation and use of digital health data to improve patient care and system efficiency," Stillwell said.

Projects that HERI is looking to support may include, but will not be limited to:

  • Standards and training
  • Technology selection
  • System interoperability
  • Patient privacy
  • Cost

Interested applicants should submit a brief proposal to Nancy McRae at:  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . HERI will work to secure funding support for projects selected.
